CHEMICAL PEELS

This treatment involves the application of a chemical agent to remove the damaged skin layers and reveal a more refreshed-looking skin. A healing response to the peel can trigger new skin growth so the skin appears tighter and more elastic. Chemical peels work to improve the appearance of the skin by fading spots, minimising pores and blemishes, and brightening the complexion.

Chemical peels are most commonly used on the face but can be also used on other areas, such as the chest, back, shoulders and arms, to eliminate freckles, signs of aging and sun spots. Depending on the severity of the problem, different peels may be used – some are applied just once or twice a year while others require a series of three to six treatments in weekly or bi-weekly intervals. There are three basic types of chemical peels:

• Superficial or lunchtime peel – the treatment is used to improve the appearance of mild skin discoloration and rough skin, as well as to refresh the face, neck, chest or hands
• Medium peel – the treatment is used to improve age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, freckles and moderate skin discoloration
• Deep peel – the treatment removes moderate lines, age spots, freckles and shallow scars. You will see a dramatic improvement in skin appearance.
