Gum whitening is a cosmetic dentistry procedure to remove dark spots on the gums. This condition, also known as gingival depigmentation is caused by the abnormally high amounts of melanin in the gum tissue. While the normal gum colour is pale pink, this gum discolouration can affect the appearance of your smile and become area of concern. We are now able to use a more comfortable, vibration and pain-free laser light, with only a gently tapping sound experienced. We find that laser use is a more comfortable and less fear-producing and less intimidating for most of our patients.
Dental lasers emit light that delivers quick pulses of light energy to the treatment area. Various wavelengths are used to remove and heal unhealthy tissue depending on the type of tissue being treated.
In most cases the Lite Touch laser eliminates the need for anesthesia, allowing for less time spent during the treatment.
